My heart goes not to most talented or skilled player (Victor or Bryan) but to the player who wants to be there, who wants to play at a level 3 times above his own ability and when he is there, plays at a level 5 times above his own ability. Adi is probably on the hard core measures, the 12th best centre in SA but when he is on the field for the boks over a 3/4 game period, he plays himself into the top 3. SA has a 15 year history of big, fast, agressive centres (snyman, de wet barry, fourie etc) but they never consistently delivered (attack or defense) and were effectively passengers.

JZ speaks some home truths

JZ’s comments yesterday at the MK memorial struck a chord which I will paraphrase. “We” share the credit for the successes over the past 15 years (economic, housing, water, etc) but “we” also share the blame for the failures (education, poverty, zim, aids, etc). ”We” have put party before delivery. In the Mbeki era, bad news and constructive criticism was not tolerated.

So what exactly do Terror and team have to offer other than an anti JZ stance. If both of them (and Zille/Lille/Gatcha) agree that for example educational improvement in the non white schools is critical for a host of brilliant reasons and also agree on the strategies (curriculum, pay, facilities, targets, timeline etc) to deliver, then the only differentiator is ability to deliver (Toyota versus Fiat). If the education ministers failed abysmally (were weak and lacked personal will to driver change) under 9 years of Mbeki, what did Terror or Mluleki George do then. I don’t know what Sam’s track record is on successful delivery so can’t comment. Terror (as did JZ and all the other ministers) stood back and did not hold Thabo and team to account for his AIDS denialism which has cost our country tens (and possibly 100) of thousands of lives.

One of the 2 finest italian restaurants in the peninsula (I think anyway). Quality of food, cooking and presentation is so so nice. For the extra that you pay, its sort of a no brainer. If you’re going to spoil family and friends, a la dolce vita, this is the place. Also, for a simple take away, their pizza’s are so divine. 021-5311489

Some of best chinese food in cape town. Pork dumplings, chicken with g&g&c is beautiful. Sizzling beef is awesome and very reasonable price. Bit of an odd location but service is pleasant. 92 Campground road (just next to rbps) 021-6897967
